Physiotherapy Introduced at Ananda in the Himalayas

Leading wellness resort, Ananda in the Himalayas , has launched new physiotherapy offering, answering increasing demand from wellness seekers with specific pain issues.

A new team of experienced physiotherapists has been employed at Ananda, to work in collaboration with the spa’s Ayurvedic physicians. Together, they offer a comprehensive assessment of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and exercise resulting in a thorough diagnosis of physical health. The procedure helps to identify the underlying causes of the problems, rather than addressing only the symptoms, thereby providing lasting solutions.

According to the Mayo Clinic USA, approximately 80% of all people will have, or have had, lower back pain at least once in their lives, while the second most common reason for visiting a doctor is back pain. Add to that stiffness of joints, radiating pain and carpal tunnel syndrome, it appears most adults now spend their lives battling some sort of pain.

The causes of pain
Ananda is reporting more instances of people suffering from dull to excruciating pain due to extensive work at a computer or using mobile devices. This is then turning into chronic pain which persists. In addition, many people are increasingly sedentary, spending at least 10 – 15 hours a day in a poor posture, either while using computers and phones, performing long hours of repetitive movement, or carrying extremely heavy backpacks, purses and briefcases.

Another issue is the over straining of muscles during extreme sports, practicing incorrect form while exercising and then ignoring any dull pain that follows. Muscle strain injuries account for up to 50% of all sports injuries and have high rates of re-injury. Tendon overuse injuries account for 7% of all injury-related physician office visits, and carpal tunnel syndrome currently affects 6% of the population (International Association for the Study of Pain, 2017).

The Ananda wellness team has recognised this increase in muscle and joint related issues among guests. Consequently, the destination spa has launched a range of physiotherapy solutions for chronic issues such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and muscle spasms, posture and alignment problems, sports injuries, back, neck and joint pain, as well as injuries of the shoulder, knee and ankle.

The new studio at Ananda
Located in the main spa building, Ananda’s new state of art Physiotherapy studio is equipped with the latest therapeutic tools like Class IV LASERS, ZRT Matrix therapy, joint alignment tools, interferential therapy and more. The doctors have over eight years of experience in their field and are more than equipped to offer lasting solutions.
